A Word from Dr. Scarborough

Dear Recover America Friend,

I believe that it is sinful for Christians not to vote! Why, you may ask? James 4:17 (NIV) states: If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. You and I have the sacred privilege, secured by the blood of thousands of American soldiers around the world, to choose our leaders. It is shameful that so few Christians exercise their privilege to vote and that so few preachers urge them to do so. Only 17% of registered voters cast a ballot in the primary elections last March, which was actually high for a primary election.

But don’t celebrate! Only about half of all eligible voters in America are registered so you can divide that number by half, meaning only 8.5% of all potential voters turned out to vote and only 5% of the those actually chose who would be the candidate for their respective parties. 95% stayed home watching Netflix or had some other lame excuse rather than doing what is necessary for a free nation to remain free. Have you ever wondered out loud about the poor quality of choices we face on Election Day?

Well…there you have your answer. 5% make the choice while 95% sleep on. I say…Wake Up Church!!!

John Jay, one of the members of our first Supreme Court, stated: "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers and it is the duty as well as the privilege and the interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." But rather than Christians turning out in force to vote in Christians for our rulers, we skip primary elections while those committed to undermining our great nation spend untold millions to move the few who vote to do their bidding.

The result is men like our current President, who appears to be incompetent to lead a nation. Despite the fact that he seldom left his basement in Delaware to campaign, he received a record number of votes on Election Day. I for one, suspect that the last election was rife with election fraud and I am committed to seeing to it that it never happens again.

You and I have until Friday to early vote, and then on May 24 you have one last opportunity. Many ask me who to vote for, but the answer is a little complicated because different zip codes have different races. I believe the best available unbiased resource is ivoterguide.com. There you simply insert your zip code and every candidate in every race that concerns you, is vetted for what they say as well as what they have done and more importantly, who financially supports them.

The only thing worse than not voting, is not voting correctly. Occasionally I take the information I find into the voting booth so I can be sure I vote knowledgably on every candidate and issue. If good and God fearing men and women don’t vote, then our elections will be decided by bad and God hating men and women, and they will NEVER choose Godly candidates. The church of Jesus Christ holds the destiny of America, and if Christians continue to stay home on Election Day, our freedoms will soon be taken away.

Recover America is working on a project to enlist 2000 pastors who will commit to doing five things this fall:

Pray for a Third Great Awakening in America
Preach at least one sermon on why Christians should vote as followers of Christ, not as Republicans or Democrats.
Conduct a voter registration drive in their church.
Distribute voter guides so that every voter is educated with what candidates believe.
Lead their people to the polls on Election Day.
