Dear Recover America Friend, |
Praise God for the Promise of Eternal Life |
The past few weeks have provided a blessed opportunity to both reflect on the frailness of life and to celebrate God’s promises. We honored three close friends who stepped from this life to the glory of Heaven.
On Thursday, June 12th Memorial Services for my longtime friend and colleague, Dave Welch, were held in the Grace Woodlands Church. We joined a large number of pastors, family and friends in celebrating Dave’s well-lived life for the cause of Christ. Undoubtedly Dave heard this welcome as he entered into the heavenly realm. “Well done My great and faithful Servant.”
On June 25th, an overflow of worshipers joined together to celebrate the graduation of Janie Hotze, wife of Dr. Steve Hotze. Never have I been to a more Christ honoring memorial service. Steve, Janie, and I have been friends since High School. Steve and Janie were married for 57 years. They had 8 children and 25 grandchildren. I joined seven of their living children in giving praise to the Father and tribute to Janie.
Last week I attended the funeral of my very good friend and motorcycle buddy, Tom Pike. Tom was a man of God and one of my Ministers of Pastoral Recreation while I was pastoring in Pearland. |
During the first week of each month the leadership of each of the Remnant Alliance organizations meets to discuss strategy and current projects. It is a privilege join with four other nationally recognized ministries and faith-based groups in continuing the great work initiated last year to equip pastors to be “Salt and Light” in their communities.
On the weekend of June 21-22, I was privileged to preach three times at Pastor John Miller’s Church on the Rock in Texarkana ... one of the great churches in the Ark-La-Tex area. We had people come to Christ in every service and dozens of men who rededicated their life to stand “blameless, faithful, and full of integrity.” We are honored to have this church join each month with other churches to support the work of Recover America.
On June 25th Tommye and I joined 40 men and women for a three-day Pastors’ Worldview Training Camp in Fredericksburg, TX co-sponsored by Liberty Pastors, Patriot Academy and Citizens Defending Freedom, members of the Remnant Alliance. I was honored to give the final address and altar call asking the Pastors to join our Remnant Alliance. |
We also had the opportunity to invite Steve Maxwell, co-founder of the Remnant Alliance, and his wife, Beverly, to Schulenburg, TX. to meet Rev. GF Watkins and his lovely wife and enjoy the beautiful facilities pictured below. Pastor G. F. Watkins constructed this facility to provide a retreat-type location to train men and boys on how to become great men of God. I believe it was providential to have Steve Maxwell meet with Pastor Watkins since both share a common vision for saving America. |
G.F. Watkins is an international leader, speaker, visionary, church planter, and an author of seven books. From his humble beginnings as a high school coach, G.F. has gone on to plant churches around the world starting with PowerHouse Church in Katy, Texas, PowerHouse Church in Namibia, Africa, and the PowerHouse Church Peru, South America. |
I wrote two poems when our beloved Kathryn went home in 2004 in a book dedicated to her entitled Mighty Men Stay on Track. The last stanza of one of them reads: |
The Place of No Pain We know where she is and we know how to finder her, We live each day with this blessed reminder: To live is Christ and to die is gain, Life forever in the place of no pain. |
What’s next? We have big plans being forged for the next two years which I will be sharing in the next newsletter. School Board Elections, City, County and National Elections in which, with God’s guidance and provision, we can make a difference.
Your friend and His servant, |
