Newletter 10/27/23

Dear Recover America Friend,

November 7th is a Key Election Date

On November 7, 2023, voters in the State of Texas will decide on 14 proposed State constitutional initiatives, many key county and city elections, bond issues, and a number of important races for school board offices.  The Texas Secretary of State’s office has provided explanatory statements for each proposed constitutional amendment which can be found on the following website.   https://www.sos.texas.gov/elections/forms/2023-explanatory-statements-14-final.pdf

The Church Has Been on the Sidelines Too Long

Many of the issues on the ballot each year influence critical areas of our faith, family, and freedoms.  Yet too many eligible Christian voters sit on the sidelines and simply don’t stand up for their beliefs.  For decades, the number of Christians not voting in Presidential years has been estimated to be around 30 million.  Most pastors are surprised because the problem is not “somewhere else.”  These startling voter participation rates are most likely true in essentially all churches.

As a result, many important decisions are made, and many officials are elected by a relatively few voters.
Make no mistake, progressives are well aware of this fact and turn out to vote.  Thus, it is essential that Christians vote their faith values; it may well determine the outcome of the November 2023 elections.

Christians Can Make A Difference

Colossians 1:15-17 makes this declaration: “15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities (emphasis added); all things have been created through him and for him.”

I firmly believe that Christians are called to care for the things that were established for and belong to Christ.
For the Christian participation in the affairs of our civil government, our schools and our communities including voting their faith values is a Biblical Imperative.

If Pastors Lead, the Church Will Follow

Pastor, you and your church can make a difference, and it will happen if you take the lead.  As a minimum, we have consistently recommended the following steps that have proven to be effective:

  • PRAY for revival and renewal in their church, communities, their state and our nation.
  • PROVIDE and encourage the use of voter guides.  There are several good non-partisan voters guides available.  We recommend ivoterguide.com as a non-partisan source of reliable candidate assessments up and down the ballot.
  • PREACH one sermon on why Christians should vote and be involved.
  • LEAD your congregation to the polls by personal example to vote their faith values.

Key Dates in the Texas Election Schedule

October 23, 2023 - Early voting began

November 3, 2023 - Early voting ends

November 7, 2023 - Actual voting at the polls

School Board Races Are Extremely Important

One of the most concerning and insidious issues in our society today is the indoctrination of our children in the public school system.  It is nothing less than spiritual warfare and threatens an entire generation of our school children and perhaps beyond.  Radical elements of the CRT agenda, along with the teaching that LGBTQ, gender fluidity and transgenderism represent normal behavior are appearing in our schools systems around the state with alarming frequency.

Not all school systems will be having elections on November 7th, but several key districts will.  A list of those covered by
ivoterguide.com may be found at the following website:  https://ivoterguide.com/all-in-state/tx If your school board is not listed, may I suggest that you and your church leaders check with your local school boards and learn as much as you can about the candidates.  Voting … and voting for the right candidate is essential!

Christians Are Making a Difference

Let me close by saying, many of you are actively involved and making a significant difference.  Thank you for that.  Our October 18th email covered many of the key victories that have been achieved.  If you have not read it or failed to receive it, please click here for a comprehensive report on the great victories that are being won for the Kingdom.
Yours in Christ,
