Dear Recover America Friend,

He is Risen, Indeed!

Recover America extends to you our sincere prayer that you and your loved ones fully embrace the true meaning of Easter. At Easter the emphasis often digresses to a new spring outfit and an Easter bunny, and the true meaning of Jesus’ death is lost. It’s similar to Christmas when toys and Santa Claus dilutes the true meaning of the of birth of Christ.

The most sobering day of the year in the life of a Christian is Good Friday. Good Friday marks the day that the earth went dark as Jesus hung on the cross and experienced the full wrath of God for all the sins of mankind. As darkness engulfed the world during those hours, he cried out, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? Perhaps a better translation might be, My God, My God, why have even you forsaken me?”

Search the Holy Scripture and nowhere will you find Jesus speaking directly to God in such language. He always referred to God as his Father, but here, in this moment on that dark Friday, he is calling out to God not as a son in a loving relationship with his Father, but rather as a sinner in the hands of an angry God. A sinner facing the wrath of the Almighty and Holy God, who cannot tolerate sin. In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, he writes: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor. 5:21)

As soon as the debt for the sin of mankind was paid, the sun burst forth again, and Jesus again turned to God, but this time the relationship was restored, as he said. “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” Jesus willfully gave up his life. No man took it!

He was laid in a borrowed tomb for parts of three days, but on that climatic Sunday, the third day, he arose, conquering sin and the grave. Over a forty day period, this one who was dead and alive again, revealed himself multiple times. Finally, as the disciples and others watched, he exited this life and returned to the Father where he now waits for the certain time when he will return to planet earth and end sin and suffering for all.

Until that day, we have an assignment! Paul writes in 2 Cor. 17-20:

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

Those verses sum up what Recover America is all about. We are to reconcile people and nations. It is about standing in the public place as individual followers of Christ and collectively as His body, the Church, for righteousness and truth, regardless of the consequences. America cannot be restored to civility and have respect for law and order if the Church, you, and I, do not stand up for Him publicly and privately.

As we move into the critical time between now and the May runoffs and school board elections around the country, followed by the mid-term elections, we must stand strong and boldly for truth. We must expose the evils of those who want to kill unborn babies and lie to our children about sexuality, calling evil good and good evil. Our role in saving America is clear, and Recover America is not confused about our calling and work.

I will be speaking to numerous groups from Houston to Ft. Worth, to Minneapolis, all the way to Palm Beach, Florida, in an attempt to raise the capital needed to fund our efforts to save Harris County, then Texas and finally the nation. Our country must be saved from thieves, murderers and liars bent on killing babies, confusing children and willing to steal elections to accomplish their goals. Harris County is the key to saving Texas. Texas is the key to saving America.

Upcoming Events to Pray For

We have two big events coming up to pray for.

First, on Tuesday April 24th from 11am -1pm, Recover America along with Senator Paul Bettencourt is hosting a prayer luncheon in Houston to pray for America and Ukraine. If you know of any Pastor or Church leader that would like to attend, please have them register here. This is a free luncheon, but there is limited availabilty.

Then on Thursday April 28th Recover America will co-sponsor a major Pastor gathering in Plano, Texas at the great Prestonwood Baptist Church where Dr. Scarborough's seminary classmate, Dr. Jack Graham is the Senior Pastor.
